The children in India are entirely of Indian descent. Most of these children are of fairer complexion, some are dark skinned, and all have black hair, dark eyes and beautiful features. Boys and girls range in age from 9 months-12 years, however, by the time a child arrives in the U.S., the children will usually be a minimum of 15 months old. Changes in the Program fee may apply for older (over 8) or special needs children. The country requirements for adopting parents are:
CHILD REFERRAL - Approximately 3-5 months after the application has been sent, a child will be referred to you. Upon your acceptance of the child, we will begin the final adoption processing. This procedure will take 5 to 8 months to finalize. The Indian government requires periodic post-placement reports by the family, after the child’s arrival in the U.S., every six months for two years or until the adoption has been finalized. Finalization of the adoption will be required by the U.S. and Indian governments and may require additional post placement reports. NOTE: Due to fluctuations in foreign governments and their internal affairs, we cannot guarantee that the adoption will be completed in this time frame, but we will do everything in our power to expedite matters. TRAVEL - CARA guideline changes require all adoptive parents to travel to India to pick up their children. Our families travel to New Delhi to be met by our India coordinator. Our coordinator will travel with the family to the orphanage to pick up your child with you. You will then travel back to New Delhi to complete your child/ren’s visa work. The trip to India can be a quick trip for those that have a limited amount of time. Adoptive families should plan on a week in India. FEE DISBURSEMENT
ADDITIONAL EXPENSES Travel - All travel related expenses are paid by the adoptive family and fluctuate with the travel season. Authentications/Apostilles - Approximately $100 |
